TRUE LOVE
In short the fruits of the spirit.
True love, according to the Bible, is selfless, sacrificial, and rooted in God's character and example. It is expressed not only in feelings but in actions and a commitment to seek the best for others.
Love is selfless: "Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs." (1 Corinthians 13:4-5) True love prioritizes others over oneself and avoids selfish motives or behaviors.
Love is sacrificial: "Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends." (John 15:13) Jesus exemplified true love by sacrificing His life for humanity's sins, showing that love involves giving even when it costs dearly.
Love is unconditional: "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8) God's love is not dependent on our actions or worthiness. True love is given freely without requiring perfection or reciprocation.
Love is action-oriented: "Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth." (1 John 3:18) Love is not just about feelings or words but is demonstrated through practical care and service.
Love is rooted in God: "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love." (1 John 4:8) God is the ultimate source and example of love. To love as the Bible teaches, one must have a relationship with God and reflect His character.
