Matthew 16:28 makes more sense as referring to Christ's coming in judgment within His generation, not merely six days later at the Transfiguration. Jesus said, “There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.” “Some” implies others would die before this occurred. Also, verse 27 says the Son of Man would come “with his angels,” but no angels accompanied Jesus at the Transfiguration. Over the roughly 40 years leading to AD 70, some disciples died while others remained alive to witness Christ's coming, to my knowledge no disciples died in the next six days. This fits the broader context of Jesus' first-century second coming predictions.
