Our relationship with God depends on God helping us have a right relationship with Him. We can't do it on our own. So if you would like a better relationship with God ask Him for His help. We are the clay and He is the potter. We really can do nothing on our own.
Isaiah 64:8 But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.
God wants us to have a good life. I'd like to look into more what a good life is. A lot of times we think a good life is one of travel, having all the luxury, nice or cool things that we've always wanted. However even the richest man to live in the past, King Solomon, didn't find truth and hapiness in his things. So what is life?
Our God Relationship - Easy Reading Version 2 Peter 1:3-8 Jesus has the power of God. And his power has given us everything we need to live a life devoted to God. We have these things because we know him. Jesus chose us by his glory and goodness, through which he also gave us the very great and rich gifts that he promised us. With these gifts you can share in being like God. And so you will escape the ruin that comes to people in the world because of the evil things they want. Because you have these blessings, do all you can to add to your life these things: to your faith add goodness; to your goodness add knowledge; to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add patience; to your patience add devotion to God; to your devotion add kindness toward your brothers and sisters in Christ, and to this kindness add love. If all these things are in you and growing, you will never fail to be useful to God. You will produce the kind of fruit that should come from your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As we can see from the above verses in 2 Peter God has given everything we need to live a life devoted to God. A life devoted to God is how we find true hapiness and full life, but what does it mean He has given us everything we need. What is it that He has given us?
Today is Thanksgiving 2017 and I believe this is where we can hang our hat or find the answer to this question. We should be happy with the promises God has given to us and be thankful, when we are thankful it tears down the creeping thoughts of we want it all. In this world of selfies and me first attitude it doesn't open the door for thankfulness as much, so we need to keep our focus on what exactly did God say he do for us. I'd like to look at 10 promises God has give us.
- The Gift Of Eternal Life
- The Earth Will Never Be Destroyed
- Long Life If We Honor Our Parents
- He will be with you
- He will protect you
- He will be your strentgh
- He will provide for you
- He will answer you
- He will give you peace
- He will love you
There are four levels of hapiness
- Body wants & needs
- Ego comparing wanting to be successful
- Helping others
- Perfect happiness
What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.
